English Language Challenges

When I arrived to this University, I though that an English class would be boring and unnecessary. This last semester I have realized that I was wrong, that it can be not only helpful but funny and relaxing. I think that this courses are quite different between Faculty and Faculty,  and for that I feel that I can only judge the quality of my personal experience in the level 4 English Class. In that sense, I really liked the blog system like a form of discovering new expressions and fix grammatical problems, also the space on Mondays where we focused on chatting and participating together and the chill teacher we had. One thing that I didn't like so much was the schedule of the classes, because I live in Quilpué far away from the Faculty, and it gets hard to find transportation at night, but it was the only hours that I had for me to spend anyway. I think that I have a lot to improve in my English, mostly on the listening side, which is really hard for me, since it's hard for...

CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

In the length of the four years that I have been studying in the "Faculty of Arts" of Universidad de Chile, I have noticed quite a lot of conditions that I would change, both in the Career and in the University itself.  Interestingly, almost all of these problems don´t have anything to do with the quality of the classes nor the teachers, but with the administration and the organization of the University as an institutional body. I have always said that Universidad de Chile is a small representation of Chile, and as funny as it is, that´s true. The faculty of Arts is one of the most careless departments in the university, and its development seems to be disconnected from the richest faculties like Economy or Law. This causes a lack of administration clarity and a lack of resources for keeping up with the projects of the Faculty or even mainainting itself. In that sense, one of the infrastructural things that I find really critical problem, and a especially unacceptable ...

SUMMER HOLIDAYS

One of my favorites things to do when I'm about to finish the last semester of a year, is count my savings and plan my summer holdidays. Almost every summer in the past seven years, I have made one or two trips to the north or south of Chile, to relax and discover new places while spending some time with my loved ones. This year, although, I will propably stay in the central regions, because I need to save a lot of money to buy a plane ticket to India, in the eventuality of being selected as a volunteer program in which I'm applying. Nevertheless, I would love to scape of my town a par of weeks with my girlfriend, and travel to the countryside, I don't really care where, as long as it have river or a lake, so we could swim all day long and stay fresh (specially in the hot sunny days)! We don't have yet any concrete plan for our Holidays, but we where talking about going to "Las Siete Tazas", a beautiful natural park with waterfalls and astonishing landscape...

My Favorite Book

Imagen
My Favorite Book I know that for some people, choose a favorite book is a hard task, due to the almost infinity amount of great books avaible, but for me, it is kind a simple a choice. "Der Steppenwolf" (in german), is an existentialist work written in 1927 by Herman Hesse, a german philosopher and writer winner of a nobel prize. The plot talks about Harry Haller a lonely, intellectual bourgeois in the middle of his adulthood, who lives a quite yet boring and monotonous life, passing almost all his day locked in his rented flat, reading classic literature and trying to find a meaning to his existence, away of the noise of the modern city. The story takes a spin when Haller find a extrange manuscript that lead him to Hermine, a misterious woman who will show him the night side of the city with his Jazz and frenzy events. After that, Haller is driven to the "Magic Theater", where he will experience his whole life in a for of five doors, choosing after this wheth...
